EAX - LOG

EAX-Log is a software I designed few years ago specifically made around my operational needs. At that time I felt that Softwares around were not satisfying me enough so, together with the will to code a little bit, I got to the conclusion I had to start my own logging Program. Slowly, release after release, I came at a point where it was doing pretty everything I needed except interfacing with my radio. Despite the principal core who managed the QSOs was stable and working fine, continuing in updating features, introducing new ones etc, was too much time consuming so I decide to switch to Logger32 to give me more free time for Radio. During a period of time I still used my own EAX-Log to manage qsl status but after I slowed down with Qsl I forgot it a bit.  Anyhow I’m pretty proud of it despite it was written in basic because, if I had to compare it to the actual softwares, I’m lack just on the interfacing with external devices and some other WEB related features. So far, it was never released to anyone else than me and that makes me feel very comfortable as I discontinued it almost from day to night so never felt guilty of giving up. However, when I start drawing the architecture of the program, I had very clear in mind as a principal focus that Program should have had the capability to export logs into ADIF format so to be sure to don’t loose any radio contact. Apart managing the insertion of qso, with all the standard checks, I implemented the possibility to maintain The Country DXCC list, to manage Awards and to export a file with qso’s queued for qsl request and import another one to update their status. Arrived at a point when everything was stable enough, I introduced some additional features like a special Module for Contesting and a Digital Voice Keyer. The last Beta release had also the capability to connect to a DX Cluster that at the time was trough a VHF connection. In the “To do” list the next step was indeed the Cat connection and the interfacing to my Rotator…. But that part never came up. Today my source code lays in my HDD’s and who knows… maybe some day I will retake it and jump back to code and updating it. One day a local HAM told me that doing that stuff was not HAM related and that I was better playing around antennas, I replied him that under my point of view, anything related to our “radio” world is HAM related… Anyhow I took his suggestion to improve also my skill on Antennas 😊
